The first and most important step is to show up. We have different meetings throughout the week. Come on out and learn how to get your products on the shelves at stores whereas these corporations are now your customers they buy from you and sell to the masses. You must get around other entrepreneurs because they are conducive to your growth as an entrepreneur. Clap for the people who are in the stores, and one day we will be clapping for you.
God must really loves us. I mean to send the people here to 7 Mile and Lahser, in Detroit to come and help you get your product in stores and give you access to financing, resources, commercial kitchens and all kinds of resources. All the information is free! God loves me!
You must pick a product. You must have something to sell. On Saturdays we have a class that is teaching you how to source products from overseas, Pakistan, Malaysia, Korea, & China, we teach you that for free so that you can buy products for pennies on the dollar, so you can bring them back here, import them here, and then sell them to the major retail stores just like the Fortune 500 Companies do. We’re not doing this to make money, we’re doing this to make history. We (African Americans) lead the nation statistically in 5 categories, poverty, unemployment, incarceration and recidivism. It’s the 5th category that’s the most pressing because we also lead the nation in having the least amount of entrepreneurs per ethnic group. But we spend the most money. It’s time for that to change in Jesus name. We’re going to create more and more and more successful entrepreneurs. Once that happens all of the other 4 categories will subside. We create the jobs through our businesses and guess what the unemployment rate goes down, when the unemployment rate goes down, they always check the unemployment index to find out that the crime rate goes down anytime the unemployment rate goes down. So if you reduce the unemployment rate then you reduce the crime rate. If you reduce the crime rate you also reduce the incarceration rate because you have to commit a crime to go to jail. Then if you reduce that then you will also reduce the recidivism rate. Recidivism means people went to jail, came out and went back in. If they never went in jail in the first place then there is no recidivism. You will become an successful entrepreneur and bring change in Jesus name.
You must pick a product, something that can be mass produced. Some of you can cook delicious food, it’s time to get your food in the stores.
We all help each other. We have people like Marcus Reliford who will give you information to help you also. We have Goldman Sachs, the largest investment bank in the world coming on Friday to GEM. Who is the wealthiest African American? Robert Smith is his name. People who just work for Goldman Sachs become billionaires. Everybody from Harvard, Yell, Princeton they all want to work for Goldman Sachs because you learn how to have your own Hedge Fund, Private Equity Firms and Venture Capital Firms, the big money, large cap companies. Robert Smith, how did he become the wealthiest African American? What does he do. Private Equity.
Where did he learn that? Where did he work? Goldman Sachs. He surpassed Oprah times 4 in 2015. For some reason God is sending Goldman Sachs to 7 Mile and Lahser for free.
We do business the right way. Come to take our free class to learn how to get Corporated. Don’t pay thousands of dollars to anyone. Come on Saturdays and learn how to get Corporated for free. If you are starting a business for the first time or if you are starting another business, come to the class to learn how to do it. The class is at 12 on Saturdays.

Godaddy has a similar software system where you can build your own software for free.
You can also go to fiverr.com and get someone to build it for $150 bucks, get someone from overseas to make it for you for $150. They do a good job. You can get a technology specialist to make it for you. You can also get your packaging done on fiverr.com too. For around $25 you can get packaging done. $1 here is worth $7 overseas.
Next up is to get certified as a minority owned business. Certification is Key, this is that secret sauce. This is that information that people don’t tell you about. There are people who are certified and won’t say anything about it. This is a key element to your success. You must be certified. This is something that everyone should take advantage of but the problem is most people don’t know what it is.
Certification came about because major corporations came together and said we want to help African Americans. We want to help those who are in need. We want to give them a chance to have a slice of this dream because African Americans built this country anyway, slave labor. People like James C Penny, one of the founding board members of the NMSDC. This man and others came together and said lets give big contracts to African Americans. What happens was other people found out about it. Caucasian males, 88% of the corporations that you find in stores right now are owned by Caucasians males. So what happened was they sent African Americans in there to say that they own the business. Then they found out later that they didn’t.
Every major corporation have a supplier diversity program. So they came together and said let us help out African Americans, let’s empower them. Let’s do business with them, not give them jobs. So they can have a seat at the table. But then they found out that these companies that applied for the program weren’t African American owned companies. So they started to have people to get certified. They said we want to make sure that this company is owned by a person of color. So what happened now that people are getting certified, they realized that it’s the same families taking advantage of it. People stop telling other African Americans and that’s why the majority of you don’t know about it. But Mr. Cartwright is telling everybody.
Mr. Cartwright can say nobody black helped him but we can’t say that. I must say a black man helped me for free, taught me how to do it. Next time you see that young man with tattoos on his face with his gun hanging, or that young girl with 4 children, you will help them and not turn your back on them, give them mentorship.
NMSDC (National Minority Supplier Development Council) is the largest certification organization for African Americans and minorities in the country. They have orientation meetings every month. They used to want you to have an established business where you can show tax returns. But I was recently told that they changed their policy. Now they will certify startups. But I would suggest you ask first before you pay the money. The cost is $350 per year. When you look at the Black Enterprise Magazine all of the top 100 businesses are certified through this organization. They have an office in Downtown Detroit. When you go to any of the Major Corporations’ websites such as Walmart, Target, Nordstroms, Sephora, Ulta, Kroger, they will have this organization on their websites under supplier diversity telling you to get certified through this organization.
WBENC (Women’s Business Enterprise National Council)
Toyota has a summit for African Americans that they have every year to train you how to become a supplier for Toyota. It’s called the Opportunity Exchange. In 2019, they brought Magic Johnson to speak. They have been doing it for 30+ years. But there weren’t many black people there, only black people that were there were people from Global Empowerment Ministries because most black people didn’t know about it.
An African Proverb says, “If you can get rid of the enemy on the inside, the enemy on the outside will do you no harm.” We have to start giving each other information. That’s why I’m so thankful that brother Marcus is here. Someone that really cares.
We no longer have chains around our necks. There are so many opportunities for us to take advantage of.
This is primary certification. Not only will you be certified to do business with major retail stores but you will also be certified as a government contractor. We get government deals in here. The next step is now your product is on the shelves of retail stores. You are now a supplier.
